Staple II Collage Series - 13

Staple II Collage Series - 13

This is the last of the Staple II Collage Series.  But, I am not done with stapling.  There is yet another staple series coming.  Yesterday there was a comment about giving up ephemera.  Awhile back I decided that I needed to use what I have.  I am the only person who will do anything with what I have and when I am gone everything will be disposed of.  So why not use it.  Also I decided that either I put my work in a book or, in the case of postcards, send them off to some other place in the world.  I scan everything thing I do and if I want to go back and look I can do that.  I frequently remember some work and hunt for it on this blog.  The blog is my archive.  It is never gone, backed up somewhere on a cloud I am sure.

I thought to ask you the same question. I like your attitude toward your stuff.

i love this one john! and thanks to your inspiration, i am getting better at using up the “good stuff’, or! even tearing it up! whew.these are challenges..but you are right..we are the only ones who see the potentilal in all this stuff, or we would not have it..
i’m at my cottage with a limited amount of ephemera, and forcing myself to work with just what i have...it’s a good challenge..i think you did this when you went to england..a limited amount..

Wonderful collage John- love the 2 grid-like pieces creating depth levels. As to "stuff" I got rid of so much when we moved to New Mexico 2 years ago- bit the last 3 days my work in the studio has been to go through all my collage fodder in another attempt to organize it- and to see really what all I have. I want to make up some collage packs for people at some point.

This dapper gent embarks on a journey into a unknown landscape.
I think we all relate to his environment.

So, I don’t know if this will post, as I’ve tried several times. I agree with Terry. I love grids when used in collage as it tends to give the composition “structure”. The grids, here, are wonderful background and foreground elements in this piece. Looking forward to staple series III!
