Yet Another Mini - spread 03

In my surprise box from Jacki was a paper head.  I think perhaps it was made by pushing paper pulp into a mold.  Not sure but as soon as I saw it I knew where it was going to go.  It took care of a trouble spot that I had on the left hand side of the spread.  I had found an image of a woman that I really liked.  I wanted to make that piece of ephemera my own though.  I tried different heads on her.  Nothing worked with her body position.  So I decided to cover her up with fabric and paper and hence giving her “No Voice!” Then the 3D head arrived.  Jacki must of known I needed that head.  Again, thanks Jacki.

Yet Another Mini - spread 02

Oh this spread was “painful”.  I loved the background so much that I was having trouble covering it up.  I did though.  Love the buttons!

Yet Another Mini….cover and spread 01 that opens up

I completed this journal over a period of weeks.  I worked on it and put it aside and then picked it up again.  In the end it was finished over two working days.  I received a surprise box of treasures in the mail a few days ago from my friend in Southern California, Jacki Long.  The bling frame in the middle spread above was in that surprise box.  Thanks Jacki!  I love it!

Just Another Mini-Journal - spread 08

Maybe you might think that shabby chic is just throwing everything in but the kitchen sink.  What an odd expression!  I will have to look up the origin of that idiom. OK….the origin is during WWII and it was said that everything but the kitchen sink was thrown at the enemy.

Just Another Mini-Journal - spread 07

One might think this spread is too busy.  Well, that is shabby chic.  Happy Thanksgiving if you live in the USA.

Just Another Mini-Journal - spread 06

Have I told you that ever since I watched Project Runway many seasons ago and Armando used different patterns on the clothing he made, I have thought that it was a perfect idea?  It makes it even shabbier.

Just Another Mini-Journal - spread 05

Each page in the journal has some sort of stitching.  In this one it is machine stitching.

Just Another Mini-Journal - spread 04

This spread took a very long time to complete.  I kept thinking it needed more and more and more.  Finally I had to say, “Enough!”

Just Another Mini-Journal - spread 03

At first glance one might think the image of the boy is a slide but no.  I mounted the tin photo on the slide.

Just Another Mini-Journal - spread 02

I like this type of journal because the pages are irregular and frequently parts of prior or later pages show making a spread even larger than it would be.

Just Another Mini-Journal - cover and spread 01

By now you know me and my love for mini-journals.  I have lost count on how many I have made.  This one is another shabby chic journal made from torn Amazon boxes.  Lots of patterns going on here.

Another Postcard - 03

Lots of different things going on here.  The background is of flowers that I took in a neighborhood p-patch.  I reduced the colored image to black and white and then went back in and selected blossoms that I want to be colored, in this case yellow.  Then I scanned a cowboy image and uploaded it into iColorama and did some work on the image.  I printed the cowboy image using my laser printer and next I did a packing tape transfer of this image. Everything was adhered to a substrate and finally I added an image of a cactus to the postcard.

More Postcards - 02

Parts and pieces made their debut on this postcard over probably two weeks.  One more thing was needed and finally the bathing woman finished it off.

More Postcards - 01

I have been working on several journals simultaneously and postcards have been waiting patiently to be finished.  Usually what happens is that I get to a point and then need focal points and I have to wait until I find just what I want.

Just Some More Postcards -04

Bessie had to have a friend. So I made another postcard to keep her company.  Name this cow!

Just Some More Postcards - 03

When I was a kid we had a cow named Bessie.  I was reminded of her when I found this cow all dressed for something special.

Just More Postcards - 02

I love experimenting and that’s what today was all about.  I found some rub off lettering and I brought out the Posca Pens and I did a little packing tape transferring.  What a grand day it was!

Just Making More Postcards - 01

Today was a play day.  I bounce around from task to task.  It was a beautiful sunny day for the most part and I raked leaves.  The bin is now full so no more yard work until after next Wednesday’s pickup.  I made some packing tape transfers and then I made postcards. Oh yes, there was a nap involved, too.

Postcard Holder

I am cleaning my office and finding loads of postcards that have been sent over the year.  I needed to round them up and corral them.  So I made an easy holder.  Now they have a permanent home and are not getting all over the place.

More Postcards - 02

Enlarge it…kind of dark.  Can you find the fingers?  Easy.  Can you find the lips?  Not as easy.

More Postcards - 01

I found a finger condom at the Daiso store.  It has little raised areas all over it.  I tried dipping my finger in paint and then printing on paper.  The design changes depending on how much paint and as one prints repeatedly before running out of paint.  I like the look.

Just Another Collaged Book - 09

There are two pull out ATCs in this book.  They were shared earliest sometime in October.

Just Another Collage Book - 07

There is something about the disparity of a large ephemeral item and a small one that I like.

Just Another Collaged Book - 06

Every once in awhile I get out my sewing machine and stitch collage papers together.  I love the look of sewed paper in collage.

Just Another Collage Book - 04

The background papers that I recycled were created on newsprint.  The colors are really attractive to me.
