Since I sent off my black and white mini-journal for a show in New Jersey I decided I had to make another black and white mini-journal.  However, this time I wanted to have a pop of red somewhere in each spread or page.

I did not like this postcard for the longest time until I found the butterfly to add to it.  Complete now.

 I sweated over this postcard but in the end I think the boxers make for good focal points.

 I particularly like this one.  The background was done years ago but I think it makes a good abstract for the rest of the themed card.

 This group of postcards was difficult for me because I am using up cards that I made a long time ago with ephemera that I have laying around in my plastic bins.

 I think the hand with the flower is not quite right but it is what it is.  Maybe I could change the color with some pan pastels.  Hmm?

I just love this dog with the eyes that look like they have been drawn on.  I think the woman is pretty proud of this dog.

 Maybe this postcard needs some white.  I have plenty of time to think about whether to do that or not.  Sometimes I print the postcard on my inkjet and try out what it is that I am thinking about before committing to the actual art.

The journal has been sent off to New Jersey.  It was not easy giving up one of my most recent journals.  With that said I have an idea for another one and have already started it.

I remember when I was about five years old we got our first television.  It was a surprise that my mother had bought.  I was home with my father when it was delivered.  My father told the delivery person that he had not bought a tv and sent it back to the store.  My mother was furious when she arrived home to find no television.  Needless to say it was delivered again.  I relate this story because of the circle images and the Indian chief in the left hand-side of the spread.  That image appeared on the television screen when there was no programming back in the 1950s.

 This spread is complicated.  There is a lot going on.  The hair clip snaps to hold in four other collages.

I like the challenge that a theme gives.  I spent a great deal of time coming up with items that were black and white, just black, or just white.  The collage was done on a playing card using a spade card.

I am crazy about finding different items that fit the theme of the book.  In this case black thread on white fabric and safety pins.

 Since this journal is going east and will not return to me I have decided to make a second one soon.  I just like the idea of black and white.

Well, you might have noticed that I have been absent from the blog for awhile.  I had to take a break because I have not been feeling well.  So now I am hopeful that I am back in the saddle and can continue.  I would not have missed if I had a wealth of art that was backlogged but I already used up the backlog after my knee replacement surgery.  

I was invited to send one of my tiny journals to New Jersey for a show of tiny journals that Colleen Attara is curating from members of her many online workshops. So for the past two weeks I have been creating again.  I was not sure of what one I would send as I have made many tiny journals.  So I decided to make a black and white one to send.  I will share the video of the journal in several days.
