Really like this piece.  Isn’t funny how some just catch your attention in a special way?

Another adventure today....getting WiFi.  I had to drive six miles to the next town because the Kilkee library internet was down.  Great having libraries with WiFi.  Nice place here in Kilrush.  I think I will explore the town.

I took a long walk on the cliffs in Kilkee this morning after doing three collages.  I will go back to the house for lunch and more art.  Off to Ballyferriter in County Kerry tomorrow.  I need to take a ferry across the Shannon estuary.

I love this hat.  I wish I could wear hats but they look horrible on my head.  My father had a red felt hat that he wore all the time when I was a kid.  I do not know what happened to that hat.  There was a store in Portland, Oregon that sold men’s hats.  I tried on all of the styles and nothing looked or felt good.  I guess I will have to stay with baseball caps.

Today is a bank holiday in Ireland.  Last night things were hopping and today people are going home and it is very quiet by the seaside.  I ate in a hotel down the street from where my airbnb is located.  They warned me when I came into the hotel restaurant that the only seats were in the bar.  So that is where I headed.  What a terrific meal I had!  I had two kinds of fish on lentils with a balsamic sauce.  There was so much food that I did take away and have lunch at the house today.

It is kind of drizzling and so I think I will have an art day.  I did take a walk on the Kilkee Cliffs this morning and what a spectacular place I found.  One can go right up to the edge if you dare.  I found steps down to the base of some cliffs and what sights there were.  I thought Kilkee was much more exciting than the Cliffs of Moher.  Too many people at Moher.

It worked so well to collage the child’s hands with the words as if they are resting and holding up a sign.

The second part of the garage story from yesterday is that once I exited out of the public facility directly across the street was an Indian restaurant.  I thought that it would be a good place for lunch. That meant I needed to park again but there was no way I was going into the garage I just came out of.  So I started looking for another spot and ended up on a deadend street.  To my luck there was another garage with the door open and a sign about paying and displaying.  I parked and for the life of me I could not find a machine for the parking ticket.  Just then a young woman was coming through a pub door that leads into the parking garage.  I asked her if I could park in the spot I was in. As it turned out it was parking for employees only.  However, she said I could park there if I told the bartender.  She said the door to the garage should not have been left open.  Being a bit worried about retreaving the car, I asked just that.  She said the bartender could open it for me.  I guess it is on a remote.

I walked to the the Indian restaurant and guess what?!!  It was closed!  On my way back to the pub I saw another Indian place.  It was closed as well!  So no Indian food for me yet.  Maybe in Dublin I am sure.  Once back to the pub I decided I at least had to buy something and so I had a cranberry juice.  The bartender let me out of the garage and I was on my way again.  I ended up buying some ham and made myself a great sandwich for lunch.

I had quite the adventure in a Galway parking garage this morning.  Thank goodness I have a VW Golf as only mini cars are able to park in this garage.  I have never seen such narrow ramps and stalls.  I thought I was going to have to grease up the car on all sides just to make it through.  Alarms kept going off.  I did find a stall and parked.

When I returned a large vehicle was parking next to me.  It was from the UK.  Luckily they were there and backed out of their stall so I could get into my car.  I actually do not know what I would have done if I was later and missed them.  We laughed about it but I am serious, I do not think I could climb over the gear shift and get down to the seat.  I am having enough trouble getting my knees in as it is.  All just another adventure.

I have not seen any pigs, yet, in Ireland but sheep and evidence of sheep are everywhere.  They are kept in fields or they range.  It does not seem to matter.  The range ones wander where they please..  This morning they were even asleep in the middle of the road!  They move but very slowly as if to say “this is my territory.”

Yesterday as I was driving through one of the many villages school children were running down the street with pumpkins, ghosts, and witches.  I think they were made out of paper bags.  They were plopped down in the round rings on the polls where the hanging baskets from the summer were.  Very festive.  I heard on the radio that Halloween is quite something.  They even have fireworks!

My drive took me to the Delphi Valley today....

This seems to be a sad piece.  I had typed an explanation but decided not to relate it because of being on a holiday.

More beautiful scenery yesterday.  The funniest thing yesterday was that there were a bunch of cows in a field overlooking the ocean.  The cow had no clue as to how many people in the US would love to have such a home view out to the ocean. The cow just seemed to take it for granted!

Can’t you just see this woman reaching out to help a grandchild who is about to fall?  Maybe you have another story.

I on my way to my second airbnb and I have seen some lovely countryside and seaside today.  There were kite surfers having the time of their life while I ate an amazing lunch.  What food I have had!  I can also not get enough of the Wild Atlantic Way.  Each little turn provides something exciting.

This morning I passed by Lord Mountbatten’s home. Just off the coast is where he was assassinated.  There was also a nearby monument built in honor of a man named Freddy.  It is a rather sad story.  He was found dead trying to keep warm using his own furniture in his house....even part of his bed.  The people of the town erected the monument.  Perhaps they felt just a bit guilty that no one knew how desolate Freddy had become.  The irony is that there is a huge castle just a field away from where Freddy lived.

Sorry the cards are out of order.  This operator had a beer with lunch.  Now having a cup of tea! :-)

When I was working on this card I accidentally decollaged the white portion you see above the gentleman’s right eye.  I thought about what to do about it for a few days and then decided to leave it alone as I liked it the way it was.

Today I found an island called Cruit.  It is in the country Donegal.  I just happened on it and I fell in love with it.  There were thatched cottages to rent out that were adorable.  I was snooping around  and looking at the sea when all of a sudden a black dog brushed up against me.  I was startled of course but I just started talking to the black Labrador.  He was a puppy just checking me out.  He wanted to play so he would run ahead and come bounding back to me.  I pretended to go after him and he would run away again.  He was the cutest dog and he let me pet him.  I never found his owner.  Perhaps the owner sent him out to see who I was.

I went to Glenveagh National Park after a great halibut and chips lunch on my way home from the island.  The park property was given to the Irish government by an American.  There is a castle hunting lodge for the main house.  So I took the tour.  Marilyn Monroe stayed there as did Greta Garbo.  The house was great.  Now to see if I can find an image to share.

I think the composition of  number 24 turned out especially well. The placement of the little girl and the star work for me.  I also like the colors.

Yesterday I went to Slieve League which are the most shear and largest cliffs in Europe.  Spectacular!

I think I finally found the way to getting photos into this blog.  Fingers crossed.  If it works this is the cottage that I am staying in.  It is raining 100% today.  So I may stay in and do art. :-). Not a problem for me, right!

Well, I guess I did not miss Thursday at all.  Must be because of the time change that I was OK.  So yesterday was a bonus day.
I am about ready to head out to buy a telephone.  My cell phone does not work in Ireland and I think I will need one just for emergencies.  Tesco, a store here, should be able to help with something cheap. Then I am going to head toward the Atlantic coast and my first airbnb.  It is a cute cottage and I think the only heat might be a fireplace.  Time will tell.

I hope this is not confusing but you are getting 20 and 21 today because I messed up and used an image twice.....

Today is a two-fer since I missed a day yesterday....

52 Pickup 21
Well I messed up and somehow counted wrong on my cards.  So number 20 is also number 19.  So if you are wondering why I missed number 20 that is the reason.  Precise cutting is the name of the game for this collage.  It was intricate.   Some of the cards I really like more than others.  I really like this one.

I just love the pig and the man together.  His look is priceless and the pig on wheels, as if he is a pet, is just the best as well.

I missed posting yesterday because I was on an airplane all night Wednesday night and most of Wednesday.  My flight out of Seattle was delayed  hence everything else I planned yesterday was either cancelled or delayed.  But I am in Ireland and so far so good.  I got the car and drove on the motorways.  I asked for directions from a very nice man in a parking lot to be able to find the hotel.  I had a great dinner last night and now it is early in the morning and I am wide away and a bit jet lagged.

Today I am heading to the Donegal which is in northwestern Ireland.  I think I will go through a bit of Northern Ireland to get there.  I want to try and do back roads but I need to purchase a phone today.  So we shall see how all that goes.  The drive is supposedly three hours to where I am now and where I will be staying.  This is an adventure so who knows what will happen.

I am packing for Ireland.  Since I want to do art while I am there I have to decide what ephemera to take with me or not.  Will I find what I need there or not?  Since I don't know where I will be looking for it, it difficult to decide what should go along for the ride.  I guess I will take a chance and see what happens.

Innocence versus power.  That is what I see in this piece.  The size of the bird represents strength and confidence.  The bunny looks concerned or even frightened.  Maybe even one could say that the bunny is the underdog.

Today is a two-fer as I totally forgot to post yesterday.

52 Pickup 13

These pickup cards are making me smile.  It is just plain fun to do them.  I guess I am really into it as I did 75 x two on the two trips this month.  That makes 150 collages completed.

The ocean trip was a blast and although I am tired, I have many memories of fun times creating art with friends looking out on ocean waves.  We laughed, ate, created and started all over again.  Just plain fun was had by all.

I really like how this one turned out.  Funny how that is, some works are better than others.  I guess it just depends on the total composition magic.  I am home from the Oregon coast.  We had a delightful time.  Now it is time to ready for Ireland.  I am really looking forward to going but need a few days to recoup from the first two trips of the month.  Luckily I have until Wednesday afternoon.

It took six days but today I finished 75 more collages on playing cards.  I love working with this size and this time I have a theme, the detective series.  I won’t be showing it on this blog until sometime in 2019, however.

In number 11 above I found images that needed to be matched up, heads to hats.  I think there was about fifteen that needed matching.  Not sure I got them all correct but it was fun trying different combinations.

Heading home from the Oregon coast tomorrow.  What fun being here creating!
