It looks like color bleeding on the right side of this APC. It is the teabag mesh.

APC August 2022 - 03
I like how the teabag mesh changes the coloring of the vintage paper….compare it from the right side to the left.

APC August 2022 - 02
Not sure you can tell it but I sewed two mesh teabags together and then cut them down a bit to about 1/2 inch vertically before adhering them to the APC.

APC August 2022 - 01
The edges of the playing card did not scan so that you can readily see them. I cut out the center of a playing card to use as the size template to give continuity to this series of APCs. More on the techniques with the other in the series.

APC July 2022 - 06, 07, 08
Just a few more that I sent out to the APC group. Usually, I have ten people on the list to send to. If I choose not to participate one month or two that is perfectly OK. My name is just not on a list.

APC July 2022 - 03, 04, 05
I am pretty much working small these days. ATCs and APCs have been the largest size art for me except for a round robin or two that I have been in.

APC July 2022 - 01 and 02
I was given a stack of school photos one Christmas and I had not used them until these APCs. As you can see cut around part of the image and left part. I like how it looks against the white on the playing card.

Vintage Geography Textbook ATCs - 09
I decided that the red dots on the map would be the only red in this ATC. I did not want to over do it.

Vintage Geography Textbook ATCs - 08
I think that having a line of red is just right. If there was an additional red feature, I think the composition would be off somehow.

Vintage Geography Textbook ATCs - 06
I particularly like the monochromatic/sepia look of this series. Maybe it is more noticeable because of the pop of red.

Vintage Geography Textbook ATCs - 05
It might be hard to tell but many of the lines on the left side of this ATC was sewn by machine right onto the card.

Vintage Geography Textbook ATCs - 02
Yesterday got away from me and so today I am catching up with two ATCs. I love a pop of red.
Vintage Geography Textbook ATCs - 01
I did quite a bit of layering on this series of ATCs. All of the text comes from a vintage geography book and from magazines.

Caterpillar Book Box-Book 1 - 23
Here we are, the last spread of this series. Since I forgot to video the book we have to wait until it is returned to me in August for that opportunity.

I want to experiment more with the Posca Pens on the gelli plate to see what transfer accomplishments I can come up with. Numbers and letters were successful.

Caterpillar Book Box-Book 1 - 20
This piece has a feel of walking past a wall of graffiti. I like how cutting along the one side of the man and leaving part of the background helps with the feeling of movement and connecting with the rest of the spread.

Each time I scan a spread I usually have a surprise. Part of the next page appears adding to the current page. You can see this on the right side of this piece.

Caterpillar Book Box-Book 1 - 16
I love the softness of the shades of green. I also am a fan of having a partial image. I love it when my eyes try to complete the image.

Sorry, I got out of order. Happy 4th of July. Love is love. The only ones who should care are the two in love with each other. The Supreme Court needs to stay out of our personal lives!!!!

Caterpillar Book Box-Book 1 - 13
I know there are those out there who do not know how to occupy their time. I have never had that problem. In fact, I have the opposite problem….finding time to do all the things that I want. For instance, yesterday I was helping my landlord set up for the garage sale today. It was fun! We would work a little and then sit and have something to drink and look at the mountains and chat away. I am still recovering from surgery and have to take it easy. However, doing something productive and manual was just what I needed.
A few locals stopped by to check out what was for sale. There was an odd shaped pan that looked like a maze for sale. Who would have thought that the purpose of this pan was to make brownies so that every cut would have the crispy edges?!!!! Yup! Who would have thought someone would want an old rusty corrugated iron raised bed? Well someone did. Today the sale officially opens and it is my hope that all these treasures for sale get taken. I think I will encourage shoplifting! :-)

Caterpillar Book Box-Book 1 - 12
I have heard many times on NPR and other media outlets how black parents have to teach their sons how to protect themselves in a world where just because of their skin color they could be suspect. They have to teach their sons that what they wear might make them suspect. They have to teach their sons not to wear hoodies. Or not to put your hands in your pocket if stopped by the police. Just think about that…they have to teach their sons that their skin color can make them suspect, something that no one has control over. Skin color. So yes, jogging can be dangerous if you are black. Just ask the family of Ahmaund Arbery.
