52 Pickup 41

52 Pickup 41
Today was quite a day.  It was drizzly and so I decided that I would take a drive anyway.  I found a stately home to head towards.  I also decided to revisit where I was yesterday because I was not sure I actually was where I thought I was suppose to be.  Well, wrong decision!  When I got up in the Wicklow Mountains heading towards Sally’s Gap I got into the clouds and could hardly see an inch in front of me.  Yesterday it was sunny and gorgeous.  Nothing I could do but drive slowly and hope that eventually I would start a decent.

I eventually did and was headed toward the stately home.  I got there all right, however from November until April it is closed.  A movie was being filmed and I decided I would see what was going on.  I got plenty of head nods so I just kept going towards the set.  I can’t even explain the amount of film equipment and trucks I saw and dolley’s and cables and whatnot.  I even saw where the food was ready and waiting.  I think I could of eaten and not one would have said a word.  I asked about the film and it was a version of Hansel and Gretel.

I wandered further and got onto the grounds of the stately home.  I got to walk all around it and take photos.  It was a cool house that even had a conservatory with loads of marble statues.  Here is what the house looked like....

Wow, John! What a cool experience! I love the photo you show here of the stately home. Do you know what the domed part of the building is on the far left? It almost looks like an observatory. Be careful driving in the fog on mountain roads. We definitely want to see you st the next NWCS meeting! Thanks for sharing so many details of your travels.
