For the Birds - Miro

For the Birds - Miro
Absolutely do not get me wrong, I am a fan of Joan Miro's work.  I love everything about what I have seen in books and online.  His sculptures are fantastic and his paintings so colorful and engaging.  With those thoughts I went off to see the Miro exhibit at the Seattle Art Museum.  The first piece one sees upon entering the show is spectacular.  From then on I was sorely disappointed.  It seems that lesser works were curated for the show.  With that said, I am going to return one more time to give the exhibition a second chance.

So last week Miro was my inspiration for a journal that I am making.  This triptych is the first part of the many fold out journal that is evolving.  If you look closely you will already see the holes for where I will bind in the other fold outs.  I will publish the finished journal when completed.

Great collage. Yes - give the Miro another go. I find often with books, films and exhibitions that I bring a bad mood with me and underestimate the quality! You never know. That said, of course it is true sometimes that one feels the home nation has not released the best for any number of reasons.

The dark strips remind me of bars on a cage. But who's inside -- the birds or the glaring men?

Whoa! Liking this a lot, John. It's spectacular! Of course, to be honest, you got me at the birds.

I like this a lot. The bars do separate me from the men. Are they bad men? I like that the birds can come and go.

Oh I love this one- and of course the birds drew me right in- great colors and layering. I will be interesting to see you bind with this.
