Secrets 21

Secrets 21
Today is another two-fer as yesterday I was in Vancouver, B. C. and when I returned from our trip I took a nap and forgot to post here.

OK.  I can now divulge the idea behind the Secrets series.  Last week Brian Kasstle and I taught a workshop at the Pacific NW Art School in Coupeville, Washington.  We created stack journals bound with wrap around bindings and sealed with bizi sticks.  I will share the covers and bizi sticks tomorrow or so.  My portion of the stack journal instruction included a variety of ways to hide secrets within a spread.  In this case the secret is hidden within the teabag "envelope".

Dive

Dive
This was one of my non-thought out pieces.  I had no clue where it was going and it just evolved. When I was finished I discovered I had a diver in the background, too. Serendipitous!   I say, just start and see where your work goes.  Something wonderful will surely evolve. :-)

Cowboy Motel

Cowboy Motel
I imagine the Cowboy Motel must be in a place like Las Vegas, perhaps before the expansion of the city.

Three is the Luckiest Number

Three is the Luckiest Number
Since I forgot to post yesterday, today is a two-fer.  I taught a workshop with Brian Kasstle Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  Yesterday, Thursday, was really busy and I was exhausted but exhilarated last night.  Hence, no post!

This spread is in my journal that I created for last weekend's workshop.  I used mono-prints created on my gelli plate for the background.  Those of you who know my me well know that I love odd numbers.  The horse, the rider and the man chasing, three; the three children looking down; the three women; and the three men.  I feel this piece is a bit unbalanced but I do love the colors.

Fire......the fires in British Columbia are affecting much of Washington state.  Smoke, smoke, and more smoke.  Hmm!  Smoke does not respect borders!  I wonder what President Trump can do about it.  Maybe we need a huge wall, something to keep it all on the Canadian side of the border.  Work on that Donald! :-)

Red Bird

Red Bird
This postcard sat around for awhile unfinished.  Then I found, in my ephemera stash, the red bird and the circle man.  It all came together.

Beatrix Loves Thistles

Beatrix Loves Thistles
Several weeks ago I took a cold wax class with Judy Wise.  Here is my first complete result.  I rather like how it turned out and I rather liked the process.  I have a task to complete in the next few weeks. I have to make ten or eleven cold wax pieces that are postcard size to mail to each of the workshop participants.  I had best get cracking! :-)

Orange Series No. 30

Orange Series No. 30
Run little boy!  Run!  I had a red racing wagon when I was young.  I carried a multitude of items and raced down the lane in that wagon.  The vintage image of the little boy totally captures ones heart. Did I already say I am in love with Pastel Portfolio crayons?  I created them through a stencil.  The pluses just draw the eye around from the bottom to the top of this piece.
