Urgent C18 - A New Shabby Chic Series

Urgent C 18

I just love the look of these two women who seem to be from different backgrounds but are they really?

By the way, you may have wondered why so many of my additional cultural entires like the one below are narrated by Alastair Sooke. Well, I am in love with his accent and approach to art.  Do they call that a bromance?  I guess so because I am fascinated by most everything he has to say.  :-)

Urgent C17 - A New Shabby Chic Series

Urgent C17
I used paper yarn on each of the pieces in this series.  I first learned about paper yarn a few years ago when visiting Donna Watson's house and studio.  Then I attended the fiber arts sale at a local event and discovered a great source for paper yarn, Habu.  Habu specializes in Japanese yarns.

Urgent C16 - A New Shabby Chic Series

Urgent C16
Just what do you think that these three women are being investigated for?  Or were they witnesses to some crime?

I love the raggedness of the shabby chic journal.  Rough edges are in! :-)

Commercial...... I belong to an Artist Trading Card group who has been trading cards for about four years.  This past year we lost a member to our group and we have an opening for the coming year.  Since it is an international group we are looking for someone from Latin America, South America, or Africa to participate with us.  If you are interested and from one of those areas of the world please contact me at johnner55@yahoo.com  for more details.

Urgent C15 - A New Shabby Chic Series

Today is another two-fer since I did not blog yesterday.

We all grow up.  Perhaps the photograph is an image of the woman as a baby?  I think you can come up with a great story for this one.

Urgent C14 - A New Shabby Chic Series

Urgent C 14
Yesterday totally flew by and I totally neglected to post a blog entry.  It is funny for me that every once in awhile I do forget because I have many posts lined up.  Oh well, we do get busy in life sometimes!  In my case, I went to Vashon Island just southwest of Seattle to attend an open house for an artist that I love.  Her name is Morgan Brig.  I collected a piece of her work some time ago but yesterday I went crazy and bought four new pieces.  OMG!  I was like a kid in a candy store and had to force myself to say "Enough".  Click on her name above and you can see several pieces of her sculptural work.  She also does collage and mixed media pieces.

I also found an estate sale that had the very best prices and so I spent a bit of time selecting those just have to have items.

Urgent C 14 above makes me laugh.  I think the cowboy must be a cowpoke by day and a gigolo or dancer by night. :-)

Urgent C13 - A New Shabby Chic Series

Urgent C13
Balance.  Movement.  This piece, to me, has both.  The triangle made with the three focal points balances the piece as well as draws the eye to the right.  Movement to the left is drawn by the large puffed chest and the nightstick not to mention that the constable is facing to the left.  Perhaps since the photograph has white in it and since it contrasts with the rest of the piece my eye is drawn left as well.

Urgent C12 - A New Shabby Chic Series

Urgent C 12
This piece is one of my favorites of the series because I just love the masked man....yellow shirt and hat.  Yellow is not my favorite color normally.  I have very few yellow flowers in my garden but I do like mustard yellow.
