I got caught up in teaching responsibilities yesterday and I forgot to post.  Having a terrific time on Whidbey with a great class.  Today will be a two-for since I did not post yesterday.  We are making a journal in class using old letters like the one used in this piece.

This is perhaps my favorite collage of this series.  Sometimes a collage comes together in an unexpected way.  As you know I work intuitively.  Nothing is planned, but the collage leads me and that is just what happened here.  It was an easy collage with just four elements added to the envelope substrate, the airplane, the air mail red and blue stripe on the right, the moose, and the man.

I like how this composition turned out.  There is balance in the placement of the focal images.  I am not sure where my eye always goes first.  Sometimes it is to the figure on the right and at other times it is the darkness of the number key and the falcon.  And still at other times it seems to be the red of the Camilla.

Part of the border is the old yellowed scotch tape often found in vintage library books.  I love this old tape but sometimes does not work well with adhesives like matte medium.  I was a bit concerned with this tape but there was absolutely no problem while collaging.

Trois is the last of this series.  I have kind of have gone over-the-top in my excitement of sanding papers that have been adhered to the substrate that I am working on.  The neglected billboard look, at least that is what I am calling it, is going to have a lasting effect on my art I think.

Coming up next is another series bound into a slip knot binding.  Stay tuned tomorrow. :-)

I have a story about ordering tea (the) in Paris.  Tim and I were in a department store cafe and I said to the waiter, “Du the, s’il vous plait”.  He heard, “Deux the, s’il vous plait.”  We were served two teas.  I had ordered some (du) tea and not deux (two) teas .  Tim who really doesn’t drink tea did that day!  My pronounciation or perhaps my accent was not exact between du and deux.  You just have to smile. :-)
