Another Postcard - 40

 

This is another use of one of the masked women that I created for a book.  I like the repetition here, as well.  The red stamped marks are made by dipping an electrical insulator into Posca pen paint and stamping right onto the postcard.  Posca pens are a good source of paint when traveling and you have a need for some paint to add to what you are creating.

Of all the western or cowboy pieces I did I like this image a lot and it made a terrific postcard image, too.

I particularly like this collage made into a faux postage stamp.  I had forgotten how to create stamps in PhotoShop and spent some time online trying to figure it out.  That failed and so I just started exploring what I thought might be the process and it worked.

There appears to be a bit of a curve in this image.  I should have flatten the postcard with a weight before taking the photograph.  This is another faux stamp in this postcard.

I created faux postage stamps using some of the pieces from the western series.  I like the repetition of one of those stamps in this postcard.

I really did not want to cover any of the background but as collage artists know one has to be able to cover up something that they love.  Somehow this one got out of order from the mini journal that it lives.

In this case Muybridge captured hands clapping and a jockey on a horse.  I am a fan of his work.

Another Muybridge series of movements…in this case a man and his bicycle.

 Muybridge in the late 19th century created a series of movements captured in his photographs.  In this case a buffalo movement.  Muybridge was British.  Here is a portrait of him….

These cowboys are actually neon signs.  There is that insulator stamp again.

Somewhere I found an electrical insulator.  It makes a wonderful stamp.  So I am going crazy stamping the circle with a hole in it with Posca Pen paint.  I dab the pens up and down to get enough paint and then stamp the insulator in the paint and then print onto the postcard.  You will see a lot of these because I am having fun with it.

I really like this piece but I find it a bit odd.  I am loving the patterning explosion.

 There are several things I like about this piece.  The dots go so well with the red and blue piece on the right side.  I was not sure I would find anything compatible with the red and blue but there it is.  The gentleman in white really balances the composition.

I am not into boxing at all but this boxer seemed to go perfectly with the woman exercising.

These girls just want to have fun.  So the background had to share that experience of having fun.

The photo part of the medal has a front and a back.  I took the Jack Ravi online workshop on creating medals.  This was my sample version using some eco-dyed fabric that I had.

I particularly like how this postcard turned out.  I used a packing tape transfer, homemade papers and some lovely papers I found searching the internet.  I also used Posca pens and a graphite pencil.

For some Christmas gifts this year I gave several friends postcard holders plus twelve months of receiving a postcard each of those months in the mail.  The idea being that the received postcards would go inside the holders.  The papers in this postcard above the eyes I made using alcohol inks and stamping stamps that were given to me by a dear friend.

Self-Portrait ATC -Fourth Quarter 2023

 The theme for this ATC was to create a self-portrait and for another group to try something that I have been wanting to try for awhile.  So I did.  I took a photo of some flowers and turned the image into black and white.  I then colorized some of the flowers using PhotoShop.  For my image I did a packing tape transfer.  Then I collaged the ATCs which are each 2.5 x 3.5 inches.  There is a second group of six that I forgot to photograph but at least they are all in the mail to different parts of the world.

I wanted to add a word or two to this postcard but nothing came forward.  So I cut a word out of a magazine providing a strip of graphic instead.

I do not see the point in boxing but I liked the images.  So they are included with the Adam and Eve stamps because I was given the stamps and I thought I should use them.  I also like the look of the two boxers.  Can you figure out the meaning of putting the boxers with Adam and Eve?

Every once in awhile I play the game where I have to use what is on my workspace. I happened to have some matchbox covers and I had the use of my computer to make what I needed for a piece in PhotoShop.  So one might say I have to use what is within reach.  You might say having the computer usage makes it way too easy.  Actually there is skill in using PhotoShop so it is not easy but mostly a challenge.
