Reverence

Reverence

Reverence was completed in a Wabi Sabi workshop taught by Donna Watson on Camano Island, WA this past weekend.  What a wonderful two days I had in this class!  I had never previously used Japanese rice papers before but I am a fan now.   Rice papers are not made out of rice but from the Kozo plant.  Thus a better name to use is Washi papers.  The first day of the workshop was devoted to making the painted papers and the second day we were able to collage.  Although many of the papers I used in this collage are the Washi papers, I could not resist my favorite paper of the moment, tea bag paper.

This is so elegantly beautiful John! I love it!
And, I just yesterday added Donna Watson to my blog list.
I think you must have been kindred spirits?

I guess the tea bag paper is very similar to oriental tissues in that it has great wet strength and is permeable. You have an adventure ahead of you if you haven't used these fantastic papers before. The only problem is the cost...
I really like this spread of spots of colour on the more greyed/diluted ones.
