ATC Texture 2021 - 10

ATC Texture 2021 - 10

There is a simplicity in this ATC that I really like.  Maybe it is that practically everyone can relate to a cat somehow.  Cats have so much attitude!  I love that independence. :-)

ATC Texture 2021 - 09

ATC Texture 2021 - 09

This one works for me.....the texture, the focal image, the repetition of the circles, the words on the circle map.

ATC Texture 2021 - 08

ATC Texture 2021 - 08

Can yoou see what looks like a face in the background....the upper right.  Just a happy accident. :-)

ATC Texture 2021 - 07

For some reason I want to call this woman a Titanic survivor.  How about you?

ATC Texture 2021 - 05

ATC Texture 2021 - 05

There is something about this ATC that intrigues me.  There is an abstractness that I like and yet there is a representational aspect as well.

ATC Texture 2021 - 04

ATC Texture 2021 -04

I love the hair color with the blue in the background.  Also the map circle with the shape of the heads works.....threes.

ATC Texture 2021 - 03

ATC Texture 2021 - 03

There are several focal points that I have used before in this series which is all about the texture.

ATC Texture 2021 02

ATC Texture 2021 02

I am enjoying adding texture to the ATCs.  It gives depth.

ATC Texture 01

ATC Texture 01

I have a bunch of ATCs to complete with the theme being texture.  The background papers are full of it.  Wish you could handle the ATC.

June APC - Pride

June APC - Pride

For my APC this past June I create a punch out playing card.  I added Keith Haring and the rainbow flag to the back so that they would show through the circles.  Thank you Elsa for the use of the confetti punch.

Second Quarter ATC - 2021

Second Quarter ATC- 2021

As you know I just jump in with both feet and let the image evolve.  I started with the brown background papers that I made using magazine papers and sanding.  Washi tape came next with the French writing and the map circles.  I had found a bunch of bananas which I thought looked like "hair".  So I had to find a face to go with the bananas.  Queen Beatrix on a stamp fit the bill.  I changed her orientation in Photoshop and then sized her to fit the bananas.  Finally a little scrap of paper in the upper left finished off the ATC.

Collaboration 2 Summer 2021 -17 and 18

17

18

What I like about portraits is that personality comes through.  One can make up a narrative about the person.  We all have opinions of people we see but do not know.  It is fun to sit on a bench in public and people watch and try to figure out the people we see.

Collaboration 2 Summer 2021 - 15 and 16

15

16

I received a gift of map ephemera from an artist.  She had made them as a conglomerate of many maps.  I used some of the maps in the background.

Collaboration 2 Summer 2021 - 13 and 14

13

14

No. 13 is one of my favorites in the second collaborative book.  i like the chiseled look of this man.  No. 14 gives off a calmness of sorts.  Just a laid-back sort of guy.

Collaboration 2 Summer 2021 - 11 and 12

11

12

No. 11 is not my favorite.  However, continuing to share whatever I am creating, the good and the bad is my policy.  One thing about the portraits that I do like is that I can use the heads with bodies that I find in magazines to create a composite person.  I did that with Raymond the Fashionista.

Collaboration 2 Summer 2021 - 09 and 10

09

10

If you looked at the photos I use to do these portraits you would see a whole new character in the finished portrait.  I like that idea that the photo used turns out to be a new personality.

Collaboration 2 Summer 2021 - 07 and 08

07

08

I have trouble drawing women for some reason.  In the first collaboration of this summer I only did one woman and in this the second, only lone woman.  I am avoiding for some reason.  Perhaps I need to push myself.

Collaboration 2 Summer 2021 - 05 and 06

Could be son and father?  Perhaps.  Maybe they are strangers.  Maybe one is the employee and the other the employer.  You get to decide the narrative.

Collaboration 2 Summer 2021 - 03 and 04

03

04

My friend and fellow artist, Elsa, asked me if I would like to participate in an collaborative exchange.  She had small book covers from some detective series and so they became the covers of three journals.  Another friend, Colleen, is also participating with us.  We each have ten cards in the book to collage on.  I decided to do portraits and so each book will have 20 portraits plus whatever the other two artists do in their sections.  Over the next few days I will share what I completed for journal no. 2.  I have the third journal to work in and will start on that one soon.

12 Mini Journal Project - 1204

12 Mini Journal Project -

All twelve mini journals are housed in the box with the crow finial on top.  Because the books fit snuggly in the box I add a red pull on one of the books so that it could be taken out easily and then access to the others is simple.

12 Mini Journal Project - 1203

12 Mini Journal Project - 1203

So many similarities in this series but then again it is a series.  The man, the focal point seems a bit muted into the background a bit.  Probably because of the dark color of his kimono and the dark in the middle of the spread.

12 Mini Journal Project - 1202

12 Mini Journal Project - 1202

The kimono and the red and green background really catch my eye.

12 Mini Journal Project - 1201

12 Mini Journal Project - 1201

The first word that comes to mind with this spread in the last of the twelve mini journals is richness.  The colors see full and rich.

12 Mini Journal Project - 1104

12 Mini Journal Project - 1104

There is a calmness in this piece that I really like.  I also feel a mysterious-ness about it.
