Syd and Blue 2 |
Several months ago I did my first Syd and Blue piece. I have a strong attachment to this horse and bird. Several people have suggested that a children's book could evolve from the horse and bird relationship. Perhaps? I did try something new for the final finish. An art friend told me about Dorland's Wax Medium. It is mainly for oil painting but I thought I would give it a try to see how it works with mixed media. I am hopeful that it will solve the problem of signature pages sticking together.

I love how you've created a "horse of a different color" by layering the papers -- I'm assuming the papers are underneath and he's transparent? Or is he under the papers?
Words can't describe how much I love this piece -- it might be the circles. Although everything just works. And yes, I had the "horse of a different color" thought as soon as I saw it, too. Others are using Dorland's wax medium on acrylics, I've seen it mentioned in a couple of books. Let us know how it works for you. Have a great weekend, John. Sorry about your cold!
I do love this too John! Great spread- love the colors and the pattern and of course the horse and bird. I am curious about the wax medium- I don't know anything about that.
Glad you're back and hope you're feeling full strength soon.
This is just wonderful, magical and perfect! Can you tell I love it?
Was looking for Syd and Blue #1 when I re-found Armadillo Nightmare in January - that was hilarious!
Circles!!!!!!
Where have I been? You're on fire John! This is wonderful I wonder how the wax medium worked?
