I made this tunnel book recently, it is my third one.  You will see number 2 tomorrow.  I actually had not seen this format anywhere.  It is a Japanese stab binding book turned into a tunnel book.  I am submitting all three of my tunnel books for consideration in the Puget Sound Book Artists Guild show which will be at Puget Sound University this coming summer.  Fingers crossed they get in.

The story behind this book is that Grandpa is out for an outing with his grandson and the goat.  They stop to reflect and Grandpa remembers things from his past.  All the black and white images are his reflections.  The background represents the future and you will see his granddaughter writing something there.

I could have called this piece The Clash of the Cultures.  Can you just imagine as the explorers and pioneers crossed North America how the Native Peoples must have thought 'how strange are these white people'.  Now throw into the mix  a clown meeting a Plains Indian.  I would call that a clash of culture.

When one thinks about culture and all the aspects of so many cultures of the world, it is no wonder there are cultural conflicts.  Opening one's eyes to differences should be paramount but it rarely is I am afraid.

Sumo Tunnel Book

This is one of the  tunnel book that I have made recently.  They are a lot of fun.  I decided to do vintage sumo wrestlers because I had a bunch of cutouts to be used up.  The doors open and the tunnel pops out.  It is best to view in person but this gives you the idea of the book as a whole and the parts.

Teabag Book (page 10)

This is the last page of the book.  Since making this book I have been busy with more altered images using iColorama.  So stay tuned for how I use them in the future.

As you watch the slideshow of the teabag collages the largest of the slides partially remains showing.  I have to figure out how to get rid of it so only the two second slide shows at anyone time.  Isn't there always something to figure out?
