The term ‘copy cat’ has a negative connotation, but it could have a positive one. It could be more of a compliment as in really liking what someone has done. For years artists have learned technique by ‘copying’ a famous artist’s work. There have been many books and films about famous forgeries and the artists who did them.

ReplyDeleteAs Picasso once said to an individual who had bought a painting of his who was concerned that it might not be a real Picasso: “No, I’m sorry, it is a fake, but then, sometimes I paint fake Picassos!”
